Think only professional DIYers can hang woven roller shades? Think again! Roll with this easy, no-sweat installation guide, and add style, warmth, and privacy to your room in no time.
1. First decide if you want your shades to be mounted inside the window frame (inside mount) or outside. Inside mount is the most popular as it creates a neat, tailored look that lets your molding stand out.
2. For an inside mount: measure the inner width of your window casing at the top. Choose a width three-eighths inches smaller than the window, rounding down to the nearest inch.
3. For an outside mount: Measure the width of the area you want to cover (a 1 1/2" overlap on each side is recommended).
Designer Tip: Make sure to measure all the windows in your room. Even if they look the same, they may be slightly different.
Easy, right? Now comes the fun part….
From wicker to white, Roman to roller, we have a shade to suit every style.
Inside Mount: Place the bracket at least 3" inside the frame where the end of the head rail will rest. Mark drill hole, then screw bracket. Repeat steps on the other side.
Outside Mount: Place shade bracket at least 3" from the edge of the frame, on the outside above the window, where the end of the head rail will rest. Mark drill hole, then screw bracket. Repeat steps on the other side.
The hardest part is done! Now, on to the last step.
1. Hook one side of the head rail on the metal teeth of the brackets.
2. Press the other side of the headrail against the spring-loaded plastic tooth on the other bracket while pressing the plastic in (inside mount) or down (outside mount).
3. When the headrail is snug against the bracket, release the plastic and, voilà: the shade will be firmly in place.
